SSRN is an open access research database that contains a collection of working papers, accepted papers, published papers, and conference papers. Users will often be able to find abstracts for papers that have been submitted to SSRN, as well as, in many cases, PDF copies of papers that users may download for free. SSRN also distributes several topic-based eJournals that publicize new scholarship across a wide variety of subject matter.
Registration to SSRN is free. Users are able to create their own account to post their papers or download papers or abstracts of interest. Simply click on "Create Account," located at the top of the web page, and you'll be redirected to a page where you can put in your email address to join SSRN.
By clicking on the icon with your initials located in the top right corner of the webpage, you can find your SSRN User HeadQuarters. Using your user home, you will be able to make changes to your account, look at your papers, what eJournals you subscribe to and more.
You can also use your User HeadQuarters to link your ORCID ID to your SSRN account. Once you are on your User HeadQuarters, select "My Account," located on the left hand side of the screen. After doing so, you will be able to find the option to link your SSRN and ORCID ID around the middle of the page.
SSRN provides a handful of metrics about papers that have been posted to their site. Using these metrics, you will be able to see how many downloads and citations you have for an individual paper, as well as how many downloads and citations you have overall, spanning all of your publications. However, please note that these metrics only cover papers that have been published to SSRN, so the citation counts may not match those of other resources.
