Why Should You Connect Your Profiles?

You can integrate your HeinOnline's Author Profile page your ORCID ID. Not only would this allow you to see works from HeinOnline on your ORCID ID page, you would also be able to see works you've integrated onto your ORCID ID page on your HeinOnline Author Profile. This development is especially exciting if you have published books, do interdisciplinary work and/or publish in journals outside of the traditional law reviews that make up such a large part of HeinOnline's database.

Connecting Your Profiles

To connect the two accounts, first log into your ORCID account and make sure you have your account set to the proper visibility. To do so, click on your profile name at the top of the page, and select "Account Settings," then "Visibility." Your account needs to either be visible to "Everyone" or "Trusted Organizations" to be able to connect your ORCID ID with your HeinOnline Author Profile.

Once you have made sure your account is visible, you can go to your HeinOnline Author Profile page. The easiest way to find it is probably just searching for your name in the search bar. Once you've found your Author Profile, you should see an option labeled "ORCID ID." To the right of that will be an option to "Register or Connect your ORCID ID."

You will be prompted to authorize HeinOnline to access your ORCID Record. Once you've authorized HeinOnline, you will have to log into HeinOnline again to align your ID. If everything was completed correctly, you should now see your ORCID ID number on your Author Profile page. Now you can send works found on HeinOnline to ORCID by selecting "Send works to ORCID."

After selecting "Send Works to ORCID," you'll be redirected to a page with a list of your works that can be found on HeinOnline, which you can look through and select which works you want to send to ORCID. Once you've finished your selection and submit, these works will appear on your ORCID account.

Additionally, after you've integrated the two accounts, you will be able to see those works that are located on your ORCID account on your HeinOnline Author Profile. There will be a new tab on your profile labeled "ORCID Record," which shows works that you've published that can't be found on HeinOnline. Those works that are on HeinOnline can be found on the newly created tab "HeinOnline works." You won't be able to use HeinOnline to track the metrics of the works connected to your account through ORCID, however, it is useful for other researchers who want to find your other works.
