Cool Database of the Month:

HeinOnline Law Journal Library

Are you looking for a law journal? Look at HeinOnline; it’s probably got what you’re looking for. If you don’t already know and love HeinOnline, then it’s about time you get acquainted. While HeinOnline’s coverage is huge and gasp-inducing, let’s stick to one narrow (though still huge) offering: Law Journal Library.

Maybe it isn’t quite accurate to say that it has every law journal, but there’s a lot – from the Australian Animal Protection Law Journal to the Zambia Law Journal. Most of the law journals you might need are covered. While HeinOnline’s law journal coverage is about as complete as you can get, there is one frustration: sometimes a title won’t offer the most recent issues in PDF form (an embargo, as librarians call it). But, the journal will be indexed; it will have the article title, but the article won’t be downloadable as a PDF.

What is most useful about HeinOnline’s Law Journal Library is that you have access to the articles, in PDF form, exactly as they appear in the law journals. That means no searching around for (and perhaps missing) that asterisk in the middle of the *721 text to tell you what page number you’re on. If you aren’t using HeinOnline to access law journals, you’re missing out. As usual, you can access it remotely via our website under Research then Databases using your law school login.
