Access to the Washington Post and the New York Times

Free, Unlimited Access to Washington Post and New York Times

The Bounds Law Library offers free, full-text access to the New York Times and the Washington Post for Alabama Law faculty, staff, and students.

Follow these steps to activate your free subscription to enjoy unlimited access to The Washington Post online and on all mobile apps

  1. Visit https://www.washingtonpost.com

  2. Click on Sign In in the upper right-hand corner

  3. Click on the Sign-up link in the lower right-hand corner to register a new account using your UA Law email address

  1. Note: If you already have a Washington Post account with your UA Law email address, proceed to step 5. After clicking on the Sign-up link in the lower right-hand corner to register a new account

  • Enter your UA Law email address and choose a password

  • Click Create account

  1. Once you’ve been redirected to the home page, click on your name in the upper right-hand corner

  • This will result in the menu being displayed, click Account Settings

  1. Make sure your email address is verified; if not, click “Unverified” to be sent a verification email

  2. Click on the My Subscriptions tab

  3. Click Activate free digital access

Your subscription is now active and ready for use.

To register an account

  1. Visit this link (if off-campus, you will be prompted to enter your law school username and password):http://p.proxy.law.ua.edu/login?url=http://ezmyaccount.nytimes.com/grouppass/redir
  2. Once on the registration page, create an account using your law school email address or sign in with your already existing NYTimes.com account and indicate whether you are faculty/staff or student.

To maintain access

  • Faculty and staff will need to occasionally re-authenticate their account using the steps above. They will also be given the opportunity to create an optional calendar reminder from the New York Times during initial account setup.
  • Students will be asked to provide their anticipated year of graduation and will have access through the last day of December for that year.
  • Expired pass? If you have an access pass that has expired, you may activate a new pass by visiting NYTimes.com/GroupPass while connected to the Law School network.
