The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. It splits the nation up into regions, each region covering different states. Alabama is in Region 4, which also covers Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. They have a very helpful Find Help page that can help people find the resources they might need to get better, such as a directory to find treatment programs that treat addiction and dependence on opioids, the Veterans Crisis Line, and more.

LGBT National Help Center is a non-profit organization that provides vital peer support, community connections, and resource information through helplines and online chatrooms. While their services focus on helping individuals grappling with questions about their sexual orientation and/or gender identity and expression, there is no limiter on age or location for those seeking help. They offer Online Peer Support Chat Rooms that can be used to connect with a volunteer to have a conversation. There's also a Youth Chat Room that is meant for those who are 19 and younger, where they can express themselves amongst their peers without judgment.

Desi LGBTQ+ Helpline for South Asians (DeQH) is a helpline staffed by trained South Asian LGBQ/TGNB+ peer support volunteers that is free and confidential. The line supports South Asian individuals (people of South Asian heritage, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Tibet, as well as from South Asian communities in diaspora, such as Fiji and the Caribbean) who are a member of the LGBQ/TGNB+ ( individuals who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, questioning, intersex, transgender, gender non-binary, genderqueer, pansexual, kothi, hijra, and more) community. They provide non-crisis emotional support by phone and email during a limited set of hours per week. They are not a crisis support line, nor do they offer long-term support, where a user can speak with the same person regularly. They can help callers: who have questions about their gender, identity, or coming out; who are dealing with family, culture, or faith; who want to find community in their area; who are looking to support a friend or family member; someone who needs someone to listen as they work through things; and those looking for connection to other resources.
