The Alabama Lawyer Assistance Program is a free and confidential support line for law students, lawyers and judges that offers confidential assistance to those whose lives have been adversely impacted by struggles such as their mental health, substance use, cognitive impairment, stress and burnout, or any other condition that is an issue or problematic behavior. They provide callers with opportunities for healing through intervention, facilitating assessments, referrals, education, and a supportive network of other legal professionals. 

For any worried about risking their admission to the bar or maintaining a license as a practicing attorney, they preserve the callers anonymity and do not disclose the information with others within the state bar association.

Turning Point provides services to those domestic violence and sexual assault and provide trauma-informed, inclusive, survivor-centered assistance. They provide services to West Alabama, covering Lamar, Fayette, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Hale, Bibb, Greene, Sumter, and Marengo counties. Any counties that are outside of this region aren't covered, however, they will still work to provide individuals with the necessary resources that they need to receive assistance. Users can use the crisis line to find local resources, information or to help create a safe escape plan. There is no obligation to act on the information provided, nor does the caller need to call the police or enter a shelter. Some of the services provided include counseling, advocacy, support groups, housing assistance and education. They also have a liaison placed in every Alabama Department of Human Resources office that can help provide services to victims.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization that is dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. They are made up of an alliance of more than 600 local affiliates who work within communities to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need. They have an Alabama division which has several branches throughout the state that service Baldwin, Jefferson, Cherokee, Lee, Madison, Mobile, Washington, Montgomery, Elmore, Autauga, Shelby, Chilton, Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale and Tuscaloosa counties.

Wings Across Alabama is the largest mental health consumer-run organization in Alabama. It offers peer support through an array of direct services, often by individuals who have been through similar experiences. Their mission is to advance mental health policies and service to promote and support recovery. They offer free support groups, both in-person and online. All groups are peer-led by individuals who have lived experience with mental illness and are open to anyone who has lived and/or living experience with mental illness. These meetings are free, no matter how many you attend, are 60 minutes long and are confidential. If anyone is interested in attending a meeting, please check here for dates and times of meetings.

The Recovery Organization of Support Specialists (ROSS) is a recovery program that provides peer support to those who wish to improve their emotional health, well-being and sense of belonging. The program is for adults that are 18 and older, with priority given to those who are at or below 100% of the poverty line, who have been residing in a sober-living environment for 3 or more months, who are not eligible for recovery support services elsewhere, and are ready to commit to recovery are eligible for help.

Programs

They offer various programs that are available to those across the state, including peer support programs and peer led classes, and mentoring sessions. There are also several programs, such as the Reducing Opioid Addiction Through Diversion (ROAD) program, a program that helps divert individuals with substance use disorder from being placed in jail, which are only available in select counties.
