Indian Rivers Behavioral Health offers treatment for a variety of conditions, including mental illness, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities. Some of the services they provide include psychiatric evaluation, individual and group therapy, outpatient substance abuse treatment, and more. They have several programs that have been designed with different groups of individuals in mind, including services that are geared towards adults that are 18 and older and those struggling with substance use. 

Adult Services: There are a variety of teams that have been designed to provide different services. There are several Community Based teams that were designed to provide assistance to individuals who are living with a mental illness and a Crisis Stabilization Unit, which serves the residents of Bibb, Pickens, and Tuscaloosa counties who are experiencing a sudden mental health crisis.  There's also the Projects for Assistance in Transition (PATH) program, intended for individuals who are homeless or facing homelessness due to their mental illness or substance use. Lastly, there is the Bridge Team, which focuses on helping those who are in need of more intensive services.

Substance Use Services: There are several programs of varying intensities for those struggling with substance use that meet throughout the week at the Stafford Office in Tuscaloosa. There is also a women's inpatient treatment program in a women's only facility that women, especially those who are pregnant, are intravenous drug users while pregnant, and women with dependent children, can stay.

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a program that is offered to employees at the University of Alabama where they can find free and confidential counseling sessions, or legal, financial and work-life guidance. It is currently provided by GuidanceResources by ComPsych, the "world's largest provider of mental health services." Eligible employees have access to a hotline that is accessible 24/7, as well as 5 free counseling sessions a year.

SAFE Center

The center is open from 8:30-4:30 CST, Monday - Friday, however, the hotline is staffed 24/7.

 


The SAFE Center is a 24/7 sexual assault center that focuses on providing care to survivors of sexual assault. It is a community-based, collaborative agency that is designed to meet the emotional, medical, and forensic needs of sexual assault victims. Some of the services they can help with include: forensic examination; follow-up care; medical advocacy; education/outreach; counseling; and support group services. They work with community resource advocates, law enforcement and other service providers to meet the needs of survivors. They can also provide expert testimony for those patients who choose to seek justice. Anyone who is a 14 years or older, regardless of gender, who has been subjected to sexual assault is eligible to access the SAFE Center and their resources. 

They serve 9 counties in West Alabama, including: Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens and Sumter counties.

Hope Pointe is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crisis. They will provide service to any adult experiencing a crisis, however, they primarily serve Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Pickens, Sumpter, Choctaw, Hale, Perry, Dallas, Wilcox, Marengo, and Greene counties. They provide access to a Triage Unit, which is available 24/7/365, for those in immediate need of assistance, as well as the option for temporary and extended observation, and various other crisis intervention, therapy, and support services.
